A refused debate

June 06, 2010 Bloggies by josh

Here is a photo of the recent atheist called Talis Mancer, he is from the local atheist "thinktank" in Adelaide. I have been debating with him online, he is one to jump from topic to topic and can never stay on the specific topic. He was refuted regarding bible contradictions, he claimed Saxons and Vikings came before Christianity, he claims he is a scientific type but when asked for independant evidence for a common ancestor, he failed miserably and presented no evidence, he claims that sex with a 15 year old is not immoral. The problem with this guy is he loves his sin, even though evidence after evidence is given to him, he stills puts his fingers in his ears and hums. A public debate was offered to him but he refused for fear of looking ridiculous on youtube, I presume.

The resurrection

I also included a picture of the skeptic on the left hand side of the page. Here is a conversation with the skeptic and wanted to just show the foolishness of the skeptic and the real lack of any historical understanding in this discussion with a guy called Dom Masters on the historical event of the resurrection, ill post some of the discussion here, Doms skepticism is written in bold for easier understanding of the discussion, I could not get all of the discussion because he deleted some of it and many comments he made were attempts to change the discussion to evolution and other irrelevent topics, the favourite tactic of the skeptic when you start to show they are irrational and closed minded. Enjoy :)

Dom says "Luke was a fisherman that couldn't read or write"

A)Luke was a Greek, educated in the Greek schools, prepared for the medical practice which was held in high regard as a profession, and among the Greeks had attained to a place of eminence among the nations of the world. Luke is regarded by many secular NT scholars as a historian of the greatest caliber

Dom says "as a body can be stolen from a tomb"

A)You severly lack any historical understanding do you know anything about Roman legions of that age? I doubt it, they were a highly trained unit the most disciplined the world had ever seen, a guard unit consited of 8-16 men. Four at a time would stand watch for 2 hours then swap and the others would sleep in a semi circle around the area they were protecting with heads facing inwards. The disciples would have had to get past the gaurds, move a 2 tonne stone without waking the gaurds if they had fallen asleep which I highly doubt, it would have cost them their life especially since the punnishment was if you were caught asleep your clothes were burned on you. No the disciples did not steal the body that is a ludicrous suggestion and proven false by many secular historians.

Dom says "Also they say Jesus had a twin Brother called James"

A)This is fastfood education and propaganda at best, who is they another skeptic mate?

Dom says "I want to know what the Gospel's of Phillip & Mary Magdelene say"

A)You can read them I have, the early church fathers around 100ad had no mention of these in their writings however you will find the complete gospels in their writings as well as Pauls writings. We find no reference in the early church fathers writings of the sayings in these other gospels

Dom says "where are these books (nostic writings), why aren't they in the bible"

A)Most secular NT scholars if not all of them disregard them as not authentic. Sanders a well known NT Scholar says this "it is widely accepted the gospel of Judas and gnostic gospels are clearly fakes written around 200-300ad"

Dom says " Like I said post the link proving that Jesus rose from the dead"

A)As I said I dont deal in junkfood education, the evidence is the eye witness accounts, sealed with their blood and martyrdom and the empty tomb.

Dom says "By the way eye witnesses, 2000 years ago aren't reliable"

A)Well then we are getting somewhere, in fact the onus is on you in a court of law to prove that

Dom says "In America I would have to prove it in a court of Law, but I live in the UK"

A)Great I live in Australia based on the same common law system as the UK and for you to claim a witness is not reliable it is on the accuser of that claim to prove it. You see your problem is not alogical one but a spiritual one.

Dom says "prove the witness even existed"

A)This is how ridiculous your argument is here, prove to me Ceasar existed? You cant actually you would have to reject all of history with that view and thus a failed closed minded view, refusing the facts and staying in the dark ages.

Dom says "I'm just questioning how reliable they are as evidence"

A)Well then you should be questioning all of Aristotle, Illiad, Homer, history of Roman emperors etc

Dom says "Paul/Saul, was an agent of the Romans & helping them to forge a new cult"

A)Your kidding right?? We are talking about 50ad and until approx 350ad the romans killed millions of Christians and then after 350ad they killed Christians not catholic until long after the reformation.

Dom says "even though most of the People couldn't read or write & as You admitted the oldest works You have date too 100-150 a.d"

A)Most secular scholars agree that the gospels were written before 70ad the destruction of the temple some even date Pauls writting to 45-50ad, which in it he states there are 500 eye witnesses and you can go and ask them yourself that Jesus rose from the dead and spoke to them and the tomb was found empty.I said the copies are around 100-150ad because we have writings of the early church fathers quoting Paul, Luke and Mark

Furthermore you have disregarded oral tradition very prevalent in the eastern cultures and finally if you disregard the manuscripts we do have you have to disregard all historical work of aristotle, plato and the Illiad because we only have copies approx 700 years after they were written
